Ok, I know your reading this struggling to see where this is going, having an article on Dubstep’s central hub regarding a Pure Garage compilation; however….wait!
Yes its fact, that the beginning of Dubstep evolved from the UK Garage scene, proof of that is it suggests that artists such as Skream, Mala, Loefah, Distance, Scientist, Geeneus, Darkside, Plastician, NType, Chef, Cyrus, Hatcha, Menta, Hijak plus plenty more, all dealt with UK Garage before this massive sound we know as Dubstep.
You will notice, from those names; there’s two missing…..BENGA & COKI, there’re hitting the healines again. This time we’re talking something completely unexpected…a feature on the new Pure Garage Compilation mixed live by EZ.
Its that track again isnt it, remember the one called ‘Night’ that everyones been talking about for the past six months non stop…find itself on a mainstream compilation! Pure Garage has been the backbone of the UK Garage scene for a number of years, with unrivalled success in the commercial charts; to now inclue a feature of Benga & Coki’s ‘Night’ anthem.
The compilation includes 4 CD’s, with the fourth built up of new skool tracks. Each CD includes 25 tracks, dating all the way back to Pure Garage One…remeber that blue cover!
This new release from the Pure Garage camp and EZ also includes Skepta’s grime anthem ‘Duppy’ the vocal version including current MC’s and of course one of UK Garage’s founders MC Creed.
The end result is another reflection of EZ cutting his way through 100 tracks in 5 hours, a true demonstration of EZ mixing it up club style. The first attempt to isolate a favourite CD was aimed at CD Three which includes Wookie, an Gods Gift ‘Mic Tribute , but then looking closely at CD Two including Jammin ‘Kina Funky, Pay As You Go ‘Champagne Dance, makes it a tough call.
