Bristol based label CrazyLegs have just dropped their tenth release, in the form of NOKIA by ISLAND and we’ve got the appropriately titled J THEME for you to check out now. Don’t let the lean runtime of under three minutes fool you; from the moody atmosphere of the opening pads through the build of thunderous drum cascades climaxing in a frankly ridiculous barrage of cinematic strings the tension doesn’t let up throughout. Like condensing an entire film soundtrack into one sub three minute sitting. Bonkers.

J THEME is available now as part of NOKIA EP which features six productions from the Wales based ISLAND. The EP warps and moulds key tropes of both grime and hip-hop into something altogether more colourful, grandiose and eccentric: a feat made all the more impressive when you consider the fact that only one of the songs on the release even tips the four minute mark. It’s a refreshingly short, sharp burst of colourful bass mutations.
