Ploom – Caxton Point [Kikuji]

Ploom – Caxton Point [Kikuji]

Kikuji returns with Long Way From Caxton Point, the debut release from brand new artist Ploom and, quite frankly, we’re not quite sure what this one is. It’s definitely 140bpm. It’s definitely steeped in dubstep aesthetic, but from start to finish the EP pitches, rolls and generally wonks about like a 24 year-old kid from Brighton at 4am in a dank basement. Across the EP’s four tracks Ploom experiments with bookey time signatures, syncopation that weaves expertly in and out of tracks and only just sounds like its holding itself together. Caxton Point is definitely the most dancefloor ready cut from the release and probably the closest this EP ever gets to being “dubstep” but either way its absolute pressure. Not one for the play-it-safe crew!
