Islington Council are reviewing London’s Fabric license, and will have the doors closed for now.
Last week it was announced two teenagers died of drug-related causes in the past two months , and Fabric was forced to shut for the weekend just gone, for investigation purposes.
A week on, and the club has had its license suspended indefinitely, by request of the police – with a full review hearing to decide the clubs fate, later this month.
“Officers felt the need to act due to concerns about the safety of those attending the club because of the supply of class A drugs in the venue and the recent deaths of two young men linked to the club,” said a Met spokesman.
An Islington Council spokesman responded: “After two recent drug-related deaths, the Metropolitan Police applied for an interim suspension of Fabric’s licence.
“Fabric agreed not to contest this application, and a licensing sub-committee has today suspended Fabric’s licence.
“This will be followed by a review of Fabric’s licence within 28 days.”
Fabric announced on Saturday that all ticket holders will be refunded via Resident Advisor.
