FWD vs RINSE at The End

23-02-2008 - 21:21

With the success of round one, also held at The End nightclub, London; round two could only have been bigger and better right?....it was exactly that!

Early on; at 11pm, room one was taken over by Plastician, whilst Reckless took over room two, so not only this night being Fwd v Rinse, already at 11pm we had bassline house (room 2) v grime and dubstep (room 1). This will therefore illustrate why we saw such a massive, yet mixed crowd! The night offered everyting of todays urban life!

With the queue outside at one in, one out procedures by 10.30pm possibly upset people in not getting in; you were warned!

The most talked about name at the moment is of course Benga. With the demand on his name let alone tracks saw him take the controls in Room 1, just before flying off to Estonia for his next booking! His set saw the best breed of Benga dubplates, with his 'Chest boxing remix' receiving three reloads gives you an idea of the atmosphere, then finishing up the set with a new smasher from Hench crew's Jakes.

By this time, the venue was maxed out with skankers from all angles showing appreciation for the Tempa producer and host Crazy D.

One set I wouldnt want to entertain was going straight up after this Benga set, the crowd were on form with a serious demand for the next set to continue the same 'hype path....introduced next was Boy Better Know, with Maximum, Wiley and Skepta...Kicking off their set was Coki "Burning"say no more...as time went by, saw all MC's including Jammer on top of the DJ booth! Turning it into a serious 'hype ting'..just like their Rinse Fm radio shows!rinsefwd

Those of you who listen to The GetDarker Show on Rinse FM (Thurs 11pm-1), will have heard recent shows from Youngsta and MC SP (Thurs 9pm-11). Taking the whole capacity of room 1 to the deepest depths. Youngsta followed suit with his trademark mixing in and out of various tracks, with SP maintaining the crowds energy levels, a serious dose of underground dubstep!

Over in room two saw Chef deliver Cotti & Doctors 'Calm Down' and of course the freshest Coki smashers; then switching it up to Pulse X and Rucko's "Cockney Thug'.

Straight after Chef, in room two saw Oneman step up. Now if there is any DJ in the scene who will lock down Skream "I" with the garage classic "Little Man" by Wookie; its Oneman. To cut to the chase here, Oneman is a DJ on a completely different level! The crowd responded to every mix dipping into garage classics, to grime, back to dubstep, and back into garage classics!

Skream took control of Room 1 after Youngsta, backed up by Crazy D; and kicking off his set with 'Sandsnake' yet before it had dropped, switched it up with a Distance smasher, had the crowd causing a serious disruption!

A thoruoughly organised night resukted in completely new era, with dubstep, grime, garage, house, niche all coming into one night, and what a successful night it was!
